One Thing I Noticed About Successful Leaders

I’m guilty of this…

I had always thought people follow leaders because they are in a high position.

That a leader got that position because they have power over their followers.

And it’s bad not to follow them because they are an authority.

Technically, I had the wrong concept.

Because there are leaders who do not have any high position and yet people follow them.

One great example is Mother Teresa who has no position, and no wealth, at all. Just pure heart!

There’s something that I’m missing in the equation of why successful leaders are successful!

I had this college professor who was almost the same age as us, his students, and yet he still amazingly carried himself as our Philosophy professor.

I really enjoyed his subject and his way of sharing his expertise is not boring.

He also knows how to create boundaries between being a professor and a friend outside the school.

I had a lot of college professors but he was one of the few that I look up to.

But, I was not aware I became somehow a “follower“ of him.

Maybe because:

I like his values. I like how he thinks.

It’s like “One day if I also become a teacher, I’ll copy your style” or something like that.

Take note that I had only one college subject with him.

So what’s something that he did that successful leaders are also doing?

✨️He knows what he likes and dislikes.

✨️He is very confident in his beliefs.

✨️He has high self-awareness.

In short, he knows himself very well!

And I still did without him forcing me to follow him because I resonated with him.

And maybe that’s the real reason why successful leaders are successful!

You start leading yourself first! How? By knowing your core values, your core being.

---

Yes, it’s true that for you to be a leader, someone has to follow you.

Not because they HAVE TO follow you. But because they LOVE TO follow you.

So now, how well do you know yourself?
