I live around QC and most of my meetings and work are around Ortigas and Ayala area. That's why the EDSA Bus carousel is such a big help for me. I really like what the government implemented here. It's like the other countries that have dedicated places for loading and unloading passengers.
I had used this caroused many times already and I also have many realizations while using it for almost 2 years:
1. FREERIDE! Yes!
The government implemented a FREE ride 3 times already! Who doesn’t want to have a FREE ride? Meaning, more money for consumers to use for more important stuff
Imagine, your fare that's almost 50 Pesos, for 2-way that's 100 Pesos, when you saved it, it's already a big amount for most of us.
Buses also do not need to hoard passengers. Even if there's a long line of passengers, because there are a decent amount of buses, the buses do not need to fill the seats because they do not have a quota.
2. NOT YET SENIOR / PWD FRIENDLY I remember this conversation with a senior,
“Iho, san yung sakayan ng bus dito?” (Where's the bus station?) “Kita nyo po yun footbridge doon, yun po para makaaccess sa carousel po” (Can you see that footbridge? There's the entrance to the carousel) “Ang layo pa pala. Kanina pa ko naglalalakad.” (It's still far. I've walked a lot already)
This is really unfair for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. There’s no other way but to climb the MRT/LRT stations and footbridge just to access the carousel.
3. NEEDS MORE BUS STOPS
If I have a meeting in Mandaluyong, the only bus stop options that I have are Ortigas or Guadalupe already. There's also no bus stop in GMA Kamuning nor in Cubao. You really have to walk a lot or ride the MRT for you to reach your destination.
4. And last but not the least, SOBRANG BILIS NG BYAHE!
My usual route is from Roosevelt to Ayala. Imagine, my usual travel time is 2 hours because of the heavy traffic in EDSA. But because there's a dedicated bus lane, my travel time is now shortened to 30 to 40 minutes!
And now that I have shortened travel time, meaning I can have more time for my family, side hustles, and of course quality REST!
For me, the EDSA Bus Carousel is a big convenience because I REALLY VALUE MY TIME.
Imagine, having more time for yourself you can have more time for:

friends,
partner and
even start a side hustle.
And I think that is what matters the most. To appreciate the things that we have right now – a FREE BUS RIDE.
